Certified organic, Non-GMO Project Verified ground beef from retired organic dairy cows. Deeper, beefier flavor than any young-steer ground beef.

Mindful Meats ground beef, 85/15, in one-pound packs, from organic dairy cows on small family farms in Marin and Sonoma County. These animals spent their working lives on organic pasture and would otherwise have gone into the commodity system. Older cattle give beef with more depth and mineral character than the mild ground beef most stores sell.

On the feeding, plainly: roughly 80% of these animals' lifetime diet is pasture and dried grasses. The other 20% is certified organic grain and supplements, fed on the dairy. They are never moved to a finishing lot. So this is organic and pasture-raised, but it is not grass-finished, unlike the Engler beef in the same case. Both are good. They are not the same thing, and we would rather you knew which you were buying.
